Our large flush cut cutters are ideal for cutting Code 40 through Code 100 rail. Flush cut pliers are the best method for cutting rail as it will produce a perfectly flat, clean cut on the end of the rail.
These cutters are ideal for cutting and stripping small copper electrical wire as well! A great addition to your toolbox.
They also work great for cutting PC board ties, as well as wood ties. We also offer a compact version of our Rail Cutter for code 40 and 55 rail.
Note: These cutters are not made from hardened steel, and should only be used on rail or copper wire. Any other material will damage the cutting edges.

I just ordered my second pair of these cutters. My first pair has been used more times than I can remember for cutting my rail. I keep one pair on the layout so it is handy and the second pair I keep in my special tool kit while sizing and constructing turnouts away from the layout. I highly recommend these for cutting rail.

I did not have much luck with this product. The cutting jaws became offset from each other and would not make a good square cut.

Locally purchased cutter do NOT cut the rail evenly, these make an unbelievable clean cut with minimum or no filing. Much better then the so called "good ones". 🙂

I was using the orange handle rail cutter to cut .148 NS rail. I purchased this cutter because it was listed to cut 148 rail. My orange handle cutter cuts the 148 rail MUCH better than this black handle cutter. The black handle cutter tends to distort/crush the rail more than the orange cutter does.

I'm new to this so read my review with that in mind. I used the cutter on code 148 rail and it worked but required a bit of a squeeze, so I reverted to a Dremel cut off wheel instead. I does do a great job of cutting PCB and wooden ties and since there are many more ties than rail in one turnout, well worth the investment.
