The perfect companion to the PointForm tool, the Fast Tracks StockAid filing jig makes fast and easy work of filing the notch out of the base of the stock rail so that the switch points fit precisely against the stock rail when they are closed.

If you have ever tried to file the notch in the stock rail, you will know how difficult it can be. Holding the rail in a vise is nearly impossible. Holding the rail by hand while you try sanding it with a benchtop grinder can be tricky, and your results are never consistent. The StockAid solves all those problems by providing a foolproof way of holding the rail at a precise angle while you file the notch into the base. Even code 40 rail can be precisely filed! Using the tool is much like our PointForm. Just insert the rail into the tool, clamp it tight, and file!

Unlike the PointForm tool, a single StockAid jig can be used for all types and scales of trackwork. The only difference is the size of the rail the tool can accommodate. This tool will accommodate code 70 & 83 rail and can be used for all your trackwork.

The same tool can file both the right and left stock rails.

Each StockAid filing jig comes with a 5/32″ Allen wrench to tighten the clamping screws and lasts for thousands of uses.

StockAid tools are currently only available for Micro Engineering rail.

Works as advertised. Take the effort to go through the manual and follow their recommendations. Also, plan to make 2 or 3 practice turnouts before starting full install. The results were beautiful. I used the TwistTie pattern and loved the visual results as well.

I’ve used many of Fast Tracks products, and not found a clunker in the bunch. All very well designed, and extremely useful. In building my layout, the thing I most dreaded was building turnouts/switches; to my surprise, it’s now my most enjoyable and satisfying activity in creating my dream layout (who’d a thought !). Thank you Fast Tracks ! This tool makes filing the notches in the two stock rails a snap.

The usual high quality machining. Haven’t had a chance to use it. i have two other frog and point tools.

Yes you can prepare your stock rails using different techniques, however, there is no better or more efficient way than using the StockAid Filing Tool. I tried using a vise to hold the rail but it was always clunky. My 1″ belt Sander worked ok but by far using the StockAid jig is the most accurate, quickest and easiest way to modify your stock rails.

Works perfectly. Beautiful results. I use the TwistTies turnouts and prepared the stock rails with that tool for the first time. It’s just excellent !

A must-have to speedily make perfect turnouts. I made a couple without it, but then ordered this and am very glad to have this tool. Perhaps this is even more necessary than the point form tool as the stock rail is so delicate while filing.

I have over twenty turnouts to make and so far I have filed 20 stock rail pieces in the time it would have taken to make 3 or 4. The consistency and quality of the finished pieces is very good resulting in better rolling stock performance.
