This Fast Tracks Frog Helper soldering jig makes easy work of building precision frog points for #8, #10 & #12 switches with ME Code 55 rail. This simple jig works by holding the prepared rail at a precise angle so that the frog points can be pre-soldered. Its use is simple, slide the prepared rails into the jig, solder the points together, and you are done!
The Fast Tracks Frog Helper:
- Is fast - Construct a set of frog points in minutes
- Is easy to use - Rails are held in perfect alignment, making it easy to pre-solder the frog
- Produces consistent, reliable results - Creates smooth operating turnouts every time!
- Can be used to create curved frog points - Rail is pre-bent before using the jig
- Can accommodate up to 3 different turnout sizes - This tool can be used to build frog points for #8, #10 & #12 switches
Frog points constructed with the Frog Helper are ideally suited for creating turnouts using Fast Tracks Twist Ties, but can also be used for any hand-laid trackwork. To make point building even easier, we highly recommend that you consider purchasing a matching PointForm tool. The PointForm tool will help you file precisely fitting frog and switch points quickly and easily and is an ideal companion to the Frog Helper tool. This tool has been designed to be used with our TwistTies products. It is not required if you purchase an assembly fixture. (The fixture itself can be used for this purpose.)

Using The PointForm Tool To Build Frog & Switch Points
We offer a number of different types of PointForm tools. This document provides general instructions on how to use a PointForm tool. These instructions apply to all PointForm tools.
Using the Frog Helper To Build Curved or Straight Turnout Frog Points
The Frog Helper tool works in the same manner as a full-sized assembly fixture but is specifically designed for building frog points. These instructions explain how to use the tool to construct curved or straight points and apply to all scales.
Using The Fast Tracks Frog Helper To Build Curved Frog Points
The Fast Tracks Frog Helper tool can be used to build precision frogpoints for both straight and curved switches. Here we demonstrate how to build frogpoints for a curved turnout.
Using The Fast Tracks Frog Helper To Build Straight Frog Points
Building precision switch frog points is greatly simplified by using the Fast tracks Frog Helper tool along with the PointForm filing tool. This video demonstrates how.
Using The 35W Weller Soldering Iron For Model Railroad Trackwork
Using the right soldering iron to solder trackwork is critical to success. We recommend the 35 watt Weller pencil type soldering iron with the ST7 conical shaped soldering tip. Watch along as we demonstrate how to get the most from this soldering equipment.

Much easier than using the switch jig. You could make several all at once for future switches. Easier to solder too.
