N, 1/32" (0.031" / .8mm) thick CopperHead PC Board Ties are produced using Fast Track's unique routing process that allows us to offer ties with a very clean edge, precise dimensions and are always perfectly flat. The copper cladding is paper thin, allowing you to cut the copper with a small file or rotary tool to isolate the rails. Both sides of the tie are copper-cladded.

Copper cladded fiberglass PC Board ties are used at strategic points in hand-laid trackwork to hold the rails in gauge permanently. The remaining ties are filled in with wood ties.

When painted, the PC Board ties will become nearly invisible, blending in with the wood ties. While some sizes of CopperHead PC board ties are not as high as standard wood ties, this will not be an issue. Once soldered to rail, the thinner PC board ties will "float" between the wood ties, the space is hidden when the track is ballasted.

Using our printable tie templates as a guide, cut the ties to the lengths you need for your turnout. While specifically designed to fit all Fast Tracks assembly fixtures, they can also be used for any hand constructed trackwork.

Sold on a fret of 45 ties.

These are nice to have for many reasons besides switches. I use them everywhere when longer copper ties are nice to have.

I cut these to length with a small flush cutter (NOT my rail nipper!). Gaps with a triangular file from the hardware store.

Love the new format copper ties; much easier to centre and drill holes through them for the actuator rod. Seem to solder better too.

I've had Atlas Code 55 turnouts for some time before starting my layout. As many people know they do not snap to one side or the other to stay in position. Peco does, but tie spacing was not what I wanted. I set out to follow many "You Tube videos" on making a .020" spring wire that will work like Peco's. However the turnouts are fragile and a few will not work and even break a tie or throw bar. Go ahead and solder feeders and those may melt ties even with heat sinks. Being too expensive to discard I bought Fastrack PC ties. I found success first time out. I'm not an expert on soldering but do know flux, .02" solder and a clean iron help. I have repaired two turnouts and have more to go. This is my fix for these problems and I will pass on the good news. If I had not had the inventory of turnouts built up, I would have gotten their kits and parts because they must be stronger and very good looking on layouts. I am limited to 5 stars, the sad part!

I use these in the Fast Tracks turnout fixtures and they work great! They are all properly sized and don't require any cleanup to use, other than to cut them to length. The fret comes with 45 ties that are usable at any length for a turnout; however, I learned that if I cut carefully, I can get two 8'6" ties out of each of these ties, so I can squeeze a bit more out of the fret. I've purchased a number of these already and they are always consistent in size and thickness, with excellent layering of the copper on each side. I will continue to use Fast Tracks as my go-to supplier of PCB ties.

PC Board ties are required to make FastTracks turnouts. Luckily, this format makes them extremely easy to acquire. Just snip free with your rail nipper, polish on a file, cut to length, and drop them in the jig. Easy-peasy!
